Has anyone heard anything about Women in England 1760-1914: A Social History by Susie Steinbach? I saw it in Waterstones, and it looks quite good, but I'm not an expert.

For my Age of Justinian course, I need Justinian and Theodora by Robert Browning, 1971, Weidenfeld and Nicholson edition. It is proving almost impossible to get hold of this edition, as opposed to the Thames and Hudson version, printed the same year (WTF? says my mother, former employee of W&N). Any ideas?

There are times when your characters are predictable. And then there are times when they really really aren't!

(See [profile] socialgraces_aw's latest entry, or comment, for clarification.)

Many thanks to [personal profile] owl, who sent me the code.

Comment if you want access.

Despite failing to watch a single episode of the first series, I discovered Lark Rise to Candleford at Christmas, and have been watching every episode since, having fallen in love unreservedly. It is, in fact, the only program I have been watching regularly, (I did watch Hunter, but that was only two episodes, and I have only just started watching Victorian Farm).

At present, I am avidly shipping Dorcas Lane/James Dowland, and started bouncing during tonight's episode. (I also keep getting ideas for PG-13 James/Dorcas Wedding Night fic, but that less said about that the better.)

I am developing a fondness for the French side of the French Revolution, and the Napoleonic Wars, and would like to read some books about it, which are not too British biased. Could any of you recommend some?
